A grassroots initiative committed to fostering peace and sustainable development in Kakuma Refugee Camp and surrounding host communities
Peace for Development (PD) is dedicated to empowering youth and children, preventing violence and drug abuse, promoting democratic values, and strengthening community reconciliation through inclusive, community-driven approaches.
We believe that lasting peace comes through sustainable development, education, and empowering local communities to become agents of change in their own lives.
A peaceful, empowered, and thriving community where youth and children have access to education, opportunities, and the tools they need to build a better future for themselves and their communities.
Born from the challenges and opportunities within Kakuma Refugee Camp, Peace for Development emerged as a response to the urgent need for community-driven solutions to promote peace and development.
Our founders recognized that sustainable change must come from within the community. By engaging youth leaders, elders, and local stakeholders, we ensure that our programs are culturally relevant, locally owned, and designed to create lasting impact.
Today, we work across five strategic pillars, reaching thousands of community members annually and building the foundation for a more peaceful and prosperous future.
All our programs are designed and implemented with active community participation, ensuring local ownership and sustainability.
We maintain transparent monitoring and evaluation frameworks to measure impact and continuously improve our programs.
We address multiple interconnected challenges through integrated programming that creates comprehensive positive change.
Building bridges and fostering understanding across communities
Enabling individuals and communities to create positive change
Operating with integrity and accountability in all our work
Creating lasting solutions that communities can maintain independently
